Let’s Go Play @ Orlando Science Center

PLAYGROUND Magazine sent Megan Navarro & Family to take us on a video tour of the Orlando Science Center (OSC), a place where both parents and kids are inspired by curiosity and exploration. Truly one of the best activities for Orlando families, the OSC encourages learning in a fun way. The movies at the giant dome theaters will amaze you, the newly renovated KidsTown will impress you and the traveling exhibits keep it fresh! Plus, there’s a new area called The Hive — a makerspace where kids age 8 and up work with real tools (with the help of a mentor) to learn new skills like sewing and 3-D printing.

Visit osc.org for more info.

Megan’s 5 PLAY Tips:

  1. Kids should wear clothes they are comfortable playing in, and adults should wear comfortable shoes.
  2. Plan for lunch. There is a Subway on property, but you can also pack a lunch and have a picnic instead.
  3. If bringing multiple kids of varying ages, make sure everyone gets a chance to try the activities specially designed for their age group. It helps to bring more than one adult.
  4. Do a little prep to take full advantage of what OSC has to offer. Check out the movie schedules and animal feeding times on the website in advance so you can plan other OSC activities around those activities. When you arrive, you’ll receive a schedule that lists all the hands-on activities scheduled for the day.
  5. Check out the family and group buy memberships, which make the cost to attend even more affordable.
