American Girl Grand Opening

The Day Has Arrived!

PLAYGROUND Magazine got a sneak peek into the new American Girl store, located in Florida Mall, and it’s everything we imagined it to be … It truly is a little girl’s paradise!

American Girl Orlando will open its doors Saturday, Nov. 16 in Florida Mall. Take the kiddos for the festivities! They’ll have the Orlando Magic dancers, an ice cream truck, DJ Rubonix leading interactive games, a ballet performance, and crafts, face painting, games and more this weekend.

My daughter, Sofia (8) and I got a sneak peek at the store and it delivers on the American Girl promise. From miniature sequin holiday dresses to, my fave, a horse drawn carriage, the American Girl store is chock full of holiday surprises.

The company recently rebranded its historical characters and brought back Samantha, one of the original dolls. Sofia headed straight to Samantha’s Ice Cream Parlor and staged a party. The best part of the store is the displays. Dolls are staged with their respective accessories and clothing, along with furniture. It’s better than a doll museum because you get to take everything home (for a price!)

For the younger set, the Bitty Babies are oh-so-cute. We loved the double strollers and multiple ethic options. Not to be missed is the AG Girl section, which features look-like-me doll options, clothing and accessories to highlight sports, music, art and more. Whatever your little girl is into, they’ve got matching doll accessories and uniforms. That’s where you will find the holiday dresses and accessories as well. Sofia loved the navy sequin holiday dress so much that she and her doll are dressing in the outfits for Christmas.

Want a birthday party to remember? Try out the American Girl Bistro and party room. Schedule your child’s birthday party in the main dining area, where she’s get a birthday cake, goody bag and doll tiara and a set of invitations with matching thank you notes. Need more space? Try the party room that seats groups of 6 to 12.

The Bistro is open daily for lunch and dinner (birthday or no birthday). Reservations are required. Call 877-247-5223 to reserve a table or plan a birthday party.

After lunch, drop off your child’s American Girl doll at the hair salon where she can choose from a gaggle of hair styles. Sofia chose the double ponytail for her doll, Caroline, part of the BeForever historical doll line.

Sofia and I are looking forward to trying out the Bistro our next visit!
