Pi Day 2015 On Saturday, March 14, 2015 the Orlando Science Center celebrates Pi Day – the annual celebration commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi) – with programs, activities and you guessed it: pie!
Participants will get creative with circle art and pizza pi crafts; walk around a circle to music and when it stops, hope that you’re standing at the announced number to win a slice of pie; spin the wheel and take part in special math-, circle- and pi-related activities; and engage in an ice cream-making workshop!
Pi Day is observed on March 14 every year since 3, 1 and 4 are the three most significant digits of π in the decimal form and the date reads 3/14 in month/day date format. This year (2015) is even more significant because the date 3/14/15 at 9:26:53 follows a longer sequence of pi (3.14152653). This won’t happen again until 2115!
