Calling All Young Artists
The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce is seeking young artists to enter the annual holiday art competition. Students are asked to create original illustrations of what the holidays mean to them. Winners will have their artwork digitized and printed on vinyl banners to decorate the light poles along Morse Boulevard in downtown Winter Park.
Here are the entry guidelines:
- Entries are now being accepted on white construction paper (8.5″ x 11”) and must be vertically oriented.
- Awards will be presented in two age groups, 0-7 and 8-13; one entry per person, please.
- Artwork and entry forms should be submitted to the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 280, Winter Park, FL 32790 or delivered to the Winter Park Welcome Center, 151 West Lyman Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789 by Friday, November 14, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
Judging will be held on Monday, November 17, by a committee selected by the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce. Winners will be publicly recognized at the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 5, at 5:15 p.m. in Central Park. Two winners will be announced in each age category and their artwork will be transformed into banners and on display at the event. Afterwards, the banners will be hung on the light posts along Morse Boulevard and will become property of the City of Winter Park to be displayed during the holidays in future years for the community to enjoy.
